Massage and manual therapy in Zaporizhzhia
At Rehab Place, massage and manual techniques are part of a recovery program — not a spa treatment. A physical therapist in practice since 2012 combines them with exercise to release tension, ease pain and prepare your tissues for load. Sessions are one-on-one; the first consultation takes about 60 minutes.
What we work with
- tension and stiffness in the back, neck and shoulder muscles — including after long hours at a desk;
- muscle-related pain, trigger points, a feeling of being "locked up";
- limited mobility after injuries and surgeries — at the stage when tissues are ready for this kind of work;
- preparing muscles and joints for load in exercise sessions;
- recovery after intense training and heavy physical work.
Massage is part of the program, not a stand-alone treatment
Let's be honest: massage on its own does not "cure" anything. It is good at releasing tension and easing pain, but if the cause is weak muscles or awkward movement habits, the effect of a session lasts a few days and then everything comes back. That is why at Rehab Place massage works together with exercise: hands-on work prepares the tissues for load, and exercise locks in the result.
Manual therapy in our office means hands-on work with joints and soft tissues: mobilization, stretching, trigger point work. It is done by a physical therapist after an examination — gently, within what your body is ready to accept.
How a session goes
First, an examination: we find out where the tension comes from and why it keeps returning, and check mobility and painful areas. Then the therapist works hands-on with the areas that need it and combines this with exercise — within one session or as separate stages of the program.
The intensity is guided by your feedback: the work can go deep, but never "through pain". After the session you get simple recommendations on how to maintain the effect at home.
Your first visit
The first consultation takes about 60 minutes: a conversation and history, an examination and testing, a recovery plan — and your first exercises or techniques. Bring comfortable clothes, a change of shoes and any medical documents you have.

Questions & answers
How is therapeutic massage different from a regular massage?
The goal. A regular massage relaxes you; a therapeutic one serves a specific purpose within a recovery program — releasing tension in particular muscles, improving mobility, preparing tissues for exercise. The therapist examines you before the session, chooses the areas to work on and checks afterwards what has changed.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your condition and the goal: some people need just a few sessions combined with exercise, others a longer course. No honest answer can be given in advance — after the examination at the first consultation we give you an estimate and adjust the plan as you progress.
Does therapeutic massage hurt?
It should never be something you have to endure. Work on tense muscles can feel intense, but pain is a signal to ease off, not to push through. We keep asking how it feels and adjust the pressure so your body relaxes instead of guarding.
Are there contraindications?
Yes: acute inflammation, fever, skin conditions in the massage area, and some vascular and oncological conditions. Always tell the therapist about your health and existing diagnoses before the session. If you are unsure whether massage is safe for you, check with your doctor first.
Massage or exercise — which works better?
They are not rivals — they are parts of one program. Massage releases tension and eases pain here and now, but on its own it does not remove the cause. Lasting change comes from exercise that rebuilds strength, mobility and movement habits. Massage and exercise work best together.
Can I book massage on its own, without an exercise program?
Start with a consultation: the therapist will examine you and tell you honestly whether massage alone will help in your case. If the pain comes from weak muscles or movement habits, massage will only bring temporary relief — then we will suggest combining it with exercise.
